Valencia Wants CL Glory !
Valencia coach Unai Emery has revealed he maintains
the dream of winning the Champions League at some point.
The Mestalla outfit finished third in La Liga last season, 25 points adrift of champions Barcelona, while they were ousted by Schalke 04 in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Valencia are currently leading the Liga table
together with Real Madrid and Betis, all with six points, after beating
Racing Santander and Atletico Madrid in their first two games.
As the team prepare for their Champions League opener against Genk on Tuesday, Emery conceded he hopes his side can go all the way in the competition this season.
"I have the dream of winning the Champions League," he said at a press conference. "Valencia give me that possibility.
"Our goal is to go step by step. and the dream is to win the Champions League someday. "
The Spanish coach admitted he may be forced to make some changes to the starting XI which was used against Atletico on Saturday due to fitness concerns.
"There are some players who were tired after the match and will not be in the best condition," Emery explained.
"There will be other players who we hope will be in a better condition."
Emery stressed his side want to claim the full three points against Genk and warned his players to be alert against the Belgian side.
"This match is very important, there will be 18 points up for grabs in the group stage and on Tuesday we will be playing for three of them," he said.
"We cannot let go the opportunity to make the first step. We have to expect a very strong Genk team and respect that in order not to slip."
